Nashville Rally

For the July 2016 rally we will be camping at the Nashville KOA down the street from Opryland Hotel. Teresa & Mark Kinberger are the hosts for the rally.   If you have not made your reservations, you need to do so asap as those sites fill up quickly in the summer.  If you give them our name, they will try and get you close to our site (L3).  There are different level sites there  that have different costs associated with them.  We are on a concrete site, but the row behind us does have some gravel sites at a lesser cost.  Anyways here is the information for the campground:

2626 Music Valley Drive
Nashville, TN 37214

Fax: 6158856694
Email: nashville@koa.net
Website: Nashville KOA

So Mark and I have had a lot of talks about the itinerary.  There have been a lot of long walks and going back and forth as to what we should do (there is just so much and we love Nashville).  So here is what we have come up with so far:

*Friday Night - dinner at Cock of the Walk.  This restaurant is so much fun and is literally on the edge of the KOA property so you can walk to it.
*Saturday Lunch - we are going to do the General Jackson Lunch Cruise. The cruise takes you down the river to see downtown Nashville from a different perspective.  Mark & I have done the dinner crises and throughly enjoy them.  I have not done the lunch cruise, but cannot imagine it would not be up to the General Jackson’s wish standards.   The lunch cruise  will be $65/person.  They cannot reserve us tables together since we are not paying as one group.  If you want to make sure you sit with someone then I would suggest you call and make your reservations together.  I have included below the info on the lunch cruise for you to check it out.  Here is the reservation info on the General Jackson:

*Saturday Dinner - Mark and I are going to serve soup & cornbread at our RV site.  We figured we will be having such a big lunch that we would do something simple for dinner.
*Friday, Saturday & Sunday mornings  there will be a continental breakfast at our RV site.
Of course we will be throwing in some dessert/snack opportunities too!
For those coming in Thursday - Mark & I will be going to the Catfish restaurant up the street that we like and would love for you guys to join us.  They have a big catfish pond in the middle of the restaurant and serve table side Smores!

See you in July!!

Viewed on Thursday.

Thursday night at the Museum.  Good Pickin' and Singin'

Opening Act!

Second Act!

Third Act!  Notice the youngster playing just behind his Grandpa.

Finally there was some movement of feet on the dance floor by our group.

Fourth Group!

Paintsville Lake cove taken from a trail.

Early Camping!
About twenty Model ?s were parked outside the Home Place across the dam.  I liked the
"Slow-Grandparents at Play" warning sign.

Friday night was Billy Ray's in Prestonburg, KY

Our caravan to eat, found lots of one way streets accompanied by the signage below.
We should all have followed the Wesley's lead but thought someone's GPS would know the way too.  NOT!  But we were close.

View from Judd's campsite (5) looking toward the lake on Monday morning.  Hazy fog due to the temperature.

More pictures of the lake near the marina.

Getting to the campground really was not a problem.  All the roads were good.  Campground personnel friendly and helpful.  Sites were nice and full hookup.
Of course a great time was had by all.
Our VP brought so much wood we couldn't burn it all....but we tried.  Great campfires, food, fun, and fellowship.

Paintsville Lake-September 2014

 Dear Cardinals,
Hope everyone had a great summer. Looks like Fall is here! 32 degrees here this morning. Just wanted to send out a letter letting you know how our last rally went. If you did not make it, you missed a real treat. Paintsville Lake State Park is way over in eastern KY. It was a beautiful and very well maintained state park and we had full hook-ups--always love it when we have water and sewer! We were situated near the lake with a beautiful view. We had good service for our phones, internet, and TVs, so that's another plus!
Ross and Joan Everhard were our hosts and they did a great job feeding and entertaining us. Three other coaches were present: Willis and Mary Jo Eadens, Norm and Wendy Wesley, and Clarence and Mary Lancaster. We did not have an official meeting, because we did not have enough present. Hopefully, all of you will try to attend our October Rally at Cave City, KY. Get in touch with Greta Shelton (GRETAGOGO@aol.com) if you wish to go.

Again, you need to be thinking of hosting and where for the 2015 season.

Our activities: The Everhards and Lancasters arrived on Wednesday. We played cards and enjoyed some wine that night.

Thursday, we drove over to the old homelace of Loretta Lynn. Ross and Joan recounted their experience of driving their motorhome up there and how they got stuck and had to be pulled out. That was quite an experience, but made a very entertaining story!! The Eadens and Wesleys arrived late Thursday afternoon and that night we all enjoyed chili and grilled cheese sandwiches provided by our hostess and then a bonfire at the Eadens.
Friday morning Joan treated us with homemade cinnamon rolls and were they delicious! So much for dieting. Even Wendy gave in and had one. That afternoon, we rented a pontoon boat and Ross drove us around the lake for a couple of hours. We all really enjoyed the scenery and the rays of sunshine. This was Lucky's (Wesley's dog) first boat ride and he enjoyed it also. Later that evening we all stuffed ourselves at the Pig in the Polk BBQ Restaurant in Prestonsburg and came home to another campfire--courtesy of Willis.
Saturday was another busy day. We had another great breakfast at the Everhards. Then the boys went to check out Jenny Wiley State Park which was near by. They were NOT impressed, so we might not want to even think about visiting that one. The girls went shopping. Rested that afternoon and another delicious lasagna dinner provided by Joan. Later we all gathered around the camp fire at the Eadens and nearly made ourselves sick eating s'mores--they sure were good, tho.
We said our "good-byes" Sunday morning and headed on home.
Hope this finds you all well and hope to see you in October,
Mary Lancaster, Secretary
