August 2014 Rally

We showed off our sign this weekend at our August Rally!  This was the view behind the Judd's coach toward the lake.

Saturday morning breakfast.  The men did a GREAT job again this month!

We never tired of the view.  Even if it was raining some of the time.  Still perfect weekend.

These pictures give a little glimpse into just how spacious these campsites were.

Of course, there were trips to various area locations.  Mostly we did these trips at our own pace: Flea markets, miniature train displays, fabric shops, yarn shops, and many scenic drives, etc.
Vegas Steak House was our Saturday night dinner.  Although we had eaten so much all weekend it was hard to enjoy even more food, but we did.  Some members had to return home on Sunday, others stayed and we ate leftovers on Sunday evening and played cards.  Some of the mild mannered ones show their true competitiveness when the cards come out.   :o)   I think all of us hated to leave and return to the real world after being in this peaceful setting.

July at River Bend in Pigeon Forge, TN
A view behind the campers.  Water level increased during our stay.  Too much movement and debris  for tubing now.

Sunday evening on the way back from the Mill it began to rain again.  Ferris Wheel along Teaser Ln.

Monday morning.  Dry and overcast as we left the Pilot station.  One hour from this point to the by-pass at Knoxville.  Unlike the four hour trip for some that left on Sunday between those points.

Shopping area along Glades.  Nice Quilt store in here.

Waterfall off the hwy. through the Smokies.

Kit checking out the campground on Monday.  Wondering where everyone went.

We had hospitality at Norm and Wendy's. Dinner  Saturday night at Applewood.   Where we had an amazing server.   There was some golfing.  Trips to Cherokee for gaming.  Shopping at the outlets.  Visits to the Convention Center for a Craft Fair.    Just to mention a few of the things we did this weekend.

Dale Hollow Dam- June 2014 Rally

Dale Hollow Dam Core Campground
June 2014

Some arrived early in the week and some later.
Thursday night we ate at Ollie's in Selena, TN
Friday night we were treated to a fish fry by Art and Pat Zellers.
Wonderful fresh fish!    Thank you guys!
Saturday night we did a pitch-in which was hosted by the Zellers and Cales.
Dinner was a bit rain delayed but it was wonderful as usual.
Sunday many of the 12 coaches pulled out and headed home or to the next destination, but a few stayed on for a day or so.
Happy Trails.

In front of Ollie's where we dined on Thursday night.

One of three tables of Cardinals.

Stream rushing out of the fish hatchery site.

New deck over the stream.

Peaceful walk.

Our Banner on Display!

Obey River near sundown.

Rainy and somewhat cold but a good turnout.  12 coaches for our May Rally here at Camp Carlson, in Maldraugh, KY

Thursday night we went to a Chinese place.  4.99 per meal!
Seemed like we were in a time warp when it came to paying the bill.
Food was good!

Friday night!  Cardinal cooks showed off their talents.

Pitch-in on Friday night.
Short meeting afterward.
And a LARGE Campfire at Willis and Mary Jo's site.
Miram and Louie provided the fried chicken and rolls.
No one went hungry after this meal!

Louie enjoying all the company and maybe a plate or two of food!

Our room seemed to have shrunk from when we visited last time.
Cozy worked though.

There were trips to Wal-Mart, flea markets, golf courses (after it warmed up and dried up a bit), craft shops, fabric shops, and eateries.

Oh and ask the Judd's about being detained at the entrance to Ft. Knox when they tried to play golf at Lindsey.  Seems they were selected for a vehicle search but Pat had forgotten to put the current insurance card in the car....MPs...calls to insurance company.....and later after it was determined we were not a threat to the base we were released....and found out we couldn't get on the golf course until too late to play!
So off we went to Doe Valley.

October Rally at Woods'nWaters in Columbus, IN

We had a great turn out, great locations, great hosts and I guess I was having so much fun I failed to get any pictures.

We visited the production plant for Cummins.  A great tour - over 1 1/2 hours.  No quick run through for this guide.  And we ate ice cream on Saturday afternoon at an ice cream parlor downtown that was full of antique items.  Looks like the ice cream parlor itself was straight out of another day and time.

The weather was beautiful fall weather.  Our hosts the Kennedy's and Petri's provided great campfires with appropriate treats: hot spiced cider among those.  And wonderful chili on Thursday evening.  Friday food was on our own and a pitch-in on Saturday evening.

The campground was very accommodating.  We had a meeting room in which to gather and play games/eat etc.  No meetings were held.  Just a nice enjoyable time.

I now there were some that visited the Outlet Mall in Edinburgh.  A couple made it to the Not Just Popcorn factory in downtown Edinburgh, and lots more.

Happy Fall!

Looking  forward to 2014

Lake Nolin State Park- September Rally

View from the Judd's campsite!  Lake Nolin State Park!

View out the front of our campsite.  Doc's coach and the water in the distance.

We are starting to arrive.

Sites were great.  And just look at the weather!  Beautiful weekend!  Lots of rain on Friday night but golfers golfed on Friday and Saturday.  I was glad this novice golfer stayed home and quilted.  Might not have had enough balls in my bag to get me through the round!  But they said it was a beautiful course and they liked it better the second day.

We ate at the Mammoth Cave Lodge dining room on Friday night.  There was a ferry between the campground and the food.  We got to cross this ferry.  Three cars at a time.  No one ever came out of the operator's area to park us.  So glad we got to see this operate in the daylight.  It was more fun on the return trip in the dark.....it closes at 10.  It was after nine when we crossed.  And oh my, it rained and rained later in the night.  Two inches or so in the rain gauge at one campsite.
Great night for sleeping!

Gathering for snacks before dinner!  Someone is a Cardinal fan.....
Thanks Rick and Lauren for a great weekend!
